Why get a pilot license?

Imagine traveling twice as fast as you can drive. Imagine taking friends and family on trips. Skiing. Golfing. Shopping. College ballgames. Imagine making impossible business appointments in cities far away and still making it home at night.
Imagine taking off after work for a bite of the world's best Mexican food. In that quaint little diner. Two states away. Imagine just exploring the wild blue yonder.

Now, stop imagining. Get in touch with your inner pilot. Fly and be free. Call us at 219-464-0132. Schedule your Discovery Flight today. We'll hook you up with a friendly, expert flight instructor, the CBI Materials you'll need, and a fun, reliable Cessna aircraft. You will learn comfortably, on your own terms, on a schedule that fits you. Imagine that.

How long does it take to become a pilot?

Each applicant will take their own amount of time to achieve their rating based on factors such as learning aptitude, training schedule, course structure and weather conditions. At Eagle Aircraft we do all our training personalized to meet your scheduling needs and we follow a structured syllabus that allows our students to complete their training efficiently. We recommend flying 2-3 times per week to make steady progress and complete the private license in 4-6 months, but accelerated courses are available for those wanting to complete training faster. It's up to you! Our average student completes their training in 45-50 hrs flight time.

What type of aircraft will I fly?

Your classroom will be the Cessna Skyhawk – the most popular airplane ever made. We have several available for rental during, and after, your training.

The Skyhawk will comfortably carry two adults and their luggage at a pulse-quickening 140 mph, thanks to a 160-hp engine on the 172R model and a 180-hp engine on the 172SP model, and it can fly for 800 miles without stopping. It's 27 feet long, more than 8 feet tall, weighs 2,450 pounds fully loaded, and has a wingspan of 36 feet. On the inside, the Skyhawk offers a 360-degree view out of its tinted windows. A quiet, sound-proof cabin. And a full complement of communication and navigation radios that allows a properly trained pilot to fly trips in nearly all kinds of weather, at any time of day.

We also have various other aircraft in our fleet such as the Piper Arrow and Piper Seminole which, is our Multi Engine Trainer.

We mix in an Elite Simulator to enhance many of our training programs, especially the Instrument Rating Course. This simulator is an efficient way to add very effective IFR training at a low cost to our students. It can even be used for Instrument Currency for those who are already Instrument Rated Pilots.

Will I have to attend a formal classroom ground school?

At Eagle Aircraft, we make your ground training as easy on you as possible.
You'll learn using our state-of-the-art Computer Based Instruction (CBI) program that uses fully interactive graphics and full motion video. Click here for a CBI Demo.

CBI provides a better way to learn. No books to lug around, no hurrying to class, or no cramming before your written exam. You'll learn everything you need to know – not only to pass your exam, but also to be a knowledgeable, competent pilot. Study wherever you go. At home. At the office. Even while traveling.
You'll watch presentations by top aviation educators, see dramatic, enlightening in-flight footage, take interactive quizzes, learn interesting trivia, and prepare for upcoming lessons before you ever climb into the airplane. We do our flight and ground training concurrently, so you apply what you learn in ground lessons right away in the airplane.
